ALBUM REVIEW:  FRANZ FERDINAND - YOU COULD HAVE DONE IT SO MUCH BETTER

AFranz Ferdinand have done it again, the release of ‘You Could Have Done It So Much Better’ completed only 18 months after an acclaimed debut album further cements their status as a truly fantastic British band.

The band have worked furiously to get the album released this year. While other bands ride the waves of hype, basking in the glory of their one album fame, the Franz lock themselves away and deliver a follow up proving they are a band deserving to be worshipped.‘You Could Have Done It So Much Better’ has visibly developed with a more diverse collection of songs, yet the band are careful not to stray too far from the popular style of the first album.

As with ‘Take Me Out’ it seems as though Franz have ingeniously chosen to release the strongest single first. ‘Do You Want To’ with its simplistic lyrics and hilariously cheeky video makes you want to stamp your feet in the air and wave
your hands in the air. ‘Walkaway’ which is due to be the next single is the next best track on the album, a more reflective song about the parting of lovers, but just as catchy.

With overly hasty follow up albums from many other bands this year or the distinct lack of them, it is a relief to hear this album and instantly fall in love with it, the British music scene has a lot to thank Franz Ferdinand for. This is not the case of a second difficult album, which is always a concern for bands that have a lot to live up to. This is a great album full of potential singles, addictive pop tunes and endearing love songs. This album is the proof that Franz Ferdidnand are here to stay.
